3.4.5 Clarifications

This category includes any comments made by the following team which indicate that they are dissatisfied with, or are unable to comprehend, the information and instructions given by the leading team.  It also includes comments which point to hastiness and impetuousness on the part of the following team.

Statements expressing urgency (URGENCF) for example, “Re asap” and “Faster reply”
These statements indicate that the following team is mindful of insufficiently frequent feedback on progress, as given by the leading team.  In the examples above, they are, respectively, “reply as soon as possible” and “give us a reply quickly”.

Statements or requests raising alert to leading team’s implicit assumptions (including declarations of non-congruence) (ALERRTF) for example, “Pls tell us where to face” and “There are three lampport 6”
These indicate that the leading team has inadvertently made assumptions which were not, as yet, explicitly surfaced in their communication with the following team.  They represent the following team’s attempts at clarifying these assumptions.  In the examples above, they are, respectively, “please tell us in which direction to face” and “there are three lamp-posts with the number ‘6’ painted on them”.

Declarations of lack of understanding (LKUSTDF) for example, “Nope.. We lost”
This straightforward sub-category, of course, includes any remark which indicates a lack of understanding on the part of the following team.  The example above is, “no, we’re lost”.

Unsubstantiated guesses (UNSUBF) for example, “Left or rite den. Left rite” and “turn ritte rite. When we reach e traffic light rite”
These comments represent autonomous decisions made by the following team, for which there is no direct justification as evidenced by the instructions from the leading team.  In the examples above, they are, respectively, “left or right, then?  Turn left, isn’t it?” and “Turn right, don’t we?  When we reach the traffic light, we turn right, don’t we?”

Declarations of lack of attainment (LKATANF) for example, [U got pass by e bus stop] “No leh”
These are statements made to the leading team with the express intent of communicating that difficulty is being encountered finding the checkpoint.  The example above is, “no, we did not pass any bus stop”.
