5.2 Case Two - Team 'Little Guilin' (B)5.2.1 Introduction This team of eight students also conducted their explorations in the Little Guilin neighbourhood. Half of the team – Xin Ni, Genevieve, Yvonne and Amanda (all females) – went to Little Guilin on the 13th of July 2004 for the orienteering task, while the other half – Aaron, Sherman, Kaushik and Arvind (all males) – went there for orienteering the next day. On the 22nd of July, the entire team of eight went to Little Guilin again, for the perspectives task.
When Xin Ni, Genevieve, Yvonne and Amanda went to Little Guilin for the orienteering task, Xin Ni and Genevieve formed the leading pair, while Yvonne and Amanda constituted the following pair. Together, they completed the task of deducing the 1.6 km route in 76 minutes, Xin Ni and Genevieve sending a text-message every 3.0 minutes and a picture-message every 12.7 minutes (that is, sending some sort of message every 2.5 minutes), and Yvonne and Amanda sending a text-message every 2.2 minutes and only one picture-message (that is, sending some sort of message every 2.2 minutes).
